Diffusion
A simple and classic demonstration of diffusion involves dropping food coloring into glasses of hot and cold water to watch how temperature affects the speed at which particles spread out.
Diffusion is the net movement of particles from an area of higher concentration to an area of lower concentration.
1. Fill one beaker with cool water and the second with hot water
2. Wait a moment for the water in both beakers to become completely still so that currents do not interfere with the test
3. Carefully place a single drop of food coloring into the center of each beaker
4. Observe how fast the color spreads and fills each glass
