Forces in a Collision

Two carts with mounted force sensors collide with either magnetic bumpers or rubber bumpers.  One or two rectangular masses can be added to one or the other cart.  The forces are always equal and opposite.

If the rubber bumpers are used in place of the magnetic bumpers, the forces are larger but the collision occurs over a shorter period of time.

Capstone templates "Cart-Force Sensor Collision.cap" can be used.

Note -- Give yourself 20 minutes to check and calibrate the force sensors as well as level the track. When setting up this demo, check the calibration of each force sensor by hanging mass from the hook and seeing the sensor reads the correct associated weight. If not, calibrate the force sensor.
